December has arrived, and at The Southern Bank we can hardly believe how quickly 2024 has passed! As we celebrate the holiday season and look forward to the coming year, 2024’s final month also presents a great time to look back and appreciate all the blessings the year has brought.
Here are some of the year’s highlights at The Southern Bank:
- In January, we announced the opening of our new Southern Bank branch in Aiken, South Carolina. Located on Barnwell Avenue in the heart of downtown Aiken, this branch marked our third in South Carolina and our seventh total. (Check out the locations page on our website to see where all of our branch locations can be found throughout Georgia and South Carolina.)
- Later in January, we were thrilled to promote Clay Davenport, formerly the Greenville, South Carolina, branch manager, to VP/credit analyst.
- In April, our newly opened branch in Aiken officially celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and gathering of Southern Bank team members and executives at the Barnwell Avenue location.
- In July, our Waynesboro, Georgia, branch marked the completion of a renovation at its facility on Liberty Street.
- In early September, The Southern Financial Corporation (our parent company) announced it had raised nearly $5.1 million in proceeds after completing a private placement offering of common-stock shares to accredited individual investors. The proceeds will be used to support the continued growth of The Southern Bank in Georgia and South Carolina, as well as for general corporate purposes.
- Also in September, we were excited to announce that Jerry Rexroad, a banking-industry veteran with over 40 years of experience and a track record of driving innovation and growth, joined The Southern Bank’s Board of Directors.
- In mid-November, our Georgia branches celebrated Customer Appreciation Day by serving up BBQ, smiles and Southern hospitality to our amazing customers.
- Later in November, our Spartanburg, South Carolina, branch continued the Customer Appreciation Day celebrations by treating our treasured customers to more BBQ, smiles and Southern hospitality.
