The Southern Bank Acquires Spartanburg, S.C. Property for New Holding Company Headquarters

Sardis, Ga., May 19, 2022 – Continuing its expansion throughout South Carolina, The Southern Bank announces the acquisition of property at 468 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, S.C. 29302. The Spartanburg location will be the company’s new holding company headquarters and the second location in the state.

“The Southern Bank is excited to make this Spartanburg location our new holding company headquarters,” says Scott Frierson, President of The Southern Bank. “Spartanburg has been a growing market for quite some time and our bank is eager to help this community continue growing with our modern banking solutions, including our mobile banking options for personal and business accounts.”

The 3,800-sq.-ft. structure is located in downtown Spartanburg on a corner lot within walking distance of restaurants and retailers. This location will have plenty of parking for customers and a single-car drive-thru. The Southern Bank will renovate the space to create offices, meeting spaces, a safekeeping room with deposit boxes, and a new facade for the building’s exterior.

This new acquisition continues the Georgia-based company’s goal of filling the community banking gap in South Carolina by opening new branches across the Upstate region. The company’s team members have a history of banking success in the Spartanburg market and will bring that same success to The Southern Bank’s customers.

The Southern Bank plans on beginning renovations on the new property in August and opening its doors to customers by the end of the year. The bank’s first South Carolina location in Greenville is currently under construction. Until the branches open, the company’s digital banking platform provides customers an omnichannel banking experience for business and personal accounts, allowing them to bank from anywhere, at any time.
