The Southern Bank Announces Leadership of the IT Department


Spartanburg, S.C., October 19, 2022 – The Southern Bank announced today the new leadership of the Information Technology (IT) department. Kenny Van Dyke and William White have been named IT Manager and Information Security Officer for The Southern Bank. Together they have more than 35 years of information technology experience. 

Van Dyke has various banking information technology experiences in networking, computer systems, customer support, project management, vendor relationships, mergers and conversions, and disaster recovery. He earned a certification in the CompTIA Network+ in May 2020. His most recent position was at South State Bank in Gastonia, N.C., where he was a systems engineer and managed appliances across four data centers. 

Before joining The Southern Bank, White was the Infrastructure Manager for Spartanburg County and the Cyber Security System Engineer for Anderson County School District. He has more than 20 years of experience in information systems. White’s background includes providing security and technical support for tens of thousands of machines. He also developed policies and procedures to overhaul infrastructures for government agencies and organizations.
