The Southern Bank Announces New Senior Vice President of Upstate Commercial Lending

Sardis, GA, May 26, 2022 – The Southern Bank announces the hiring of its new Senior Vice President of Upstate Commercial Lending in the Greenville market, Russ Williams. Williams is a 35-year veteran of the banking industry with experience in bank leadership, relationship management, loan production, and credit administration. The Greenville branch of The Southern Bank is under construction with plans to announce the grand opening date soon. 

Before joining The Southern Bank, Williams was a senior advisor for Viking Mergers & Acquisitions. He was an intermediary providing sell-side advisory services to privately held business owners in the Upstate of South Carolina and active in the listing and selling of small businesses with enterprise values ranging from $500,000 to $15 million. Prior to Viking Mergers & Acquisitions, he worked for several banks based in Greenville, S.C. where he was responsible for retail and commercial banking activities, servicing small businesses, and business development.

A Memphis, TN native, Williams graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Davidson College in North Carolina and earned a master of business administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. Williams is a dedicated member of the Greenville community. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Financial Stability Impact Council for the United Way of Greenville and is a member of the South Carolina Bankers Association (SCBA) Economic Development Committee and JDRF Corporate Development Committee.
